Award-winning vibraphonist and composer Taiko Saitō from Sapporo, Japan is "a remarkable artist [...] in whose music one feels no boundaries between jazz and classical" (Naoya Takayama, Ongaku no tomo). The Berliner by choice has worked with numerous musicians such as Mary Halverson, Shing02, Markus Acher of The Notwist, Satoko Fujii, Óbó of Sigur Rós and with composers such as Sofia Gubaidulina, Keiko Abe and with the theater director Herbert Fritsch. On her instrument, she not only reveals an "extraordinary technique" but dares to dive "into unknown waters through which she glides with ease" (Mike Mainieri).
