Since its foundation in 2001, the vocal ensemble Vox Nostra under the direction of Burkard Wehner has dedicated itself to the vocal music of the Middle Ages. The group perform in Germany and abroad, where they transport their audiences into archaic worlds of sound with their overtone-rich and space-filling vocal sound of pure intervals.

The work of Berlin saxophonist Uli Kempendorff is documented on more than two dozen cds, records and radio recordings, on labels like Whyplayjazz, ECM, Enja/Yellowbird or Four Music. Besides his own projects "Field" and "Yellow Bird" he collaborates with numerous renowned artists, among others Benjamin Weidekamp, Julia Hülsmann, Kalle Kalima, Rudi Mahall, Wanja Slavin, Pablo Held, Seeed, Rolf Kühn, Jimi Tenor, 'Little' Jimmy Scott and many more.

In their collaboration, over a thousand years old Gregorian chorales and songs are put into a contemporary context: compositions of early polyphony enter into a dialogue with freely improvised sound sculptures. Here, rich ornamental art and seemingly endless melodic arcs meet experimental, by turns noisy-atonal, then surprisingly melodic playing of the saxophonist, while all musicians move freely in the room and explore its acoustics through singing and playing.
